Day 1 - Arrive in Colombo, Transfer to Sigiriya, Safari at Minneriya National Park

Our airport representative will meet you at the arrival terminal to welcome you to the tour. (We provide you with a knowledgeable, friendly, multilingual guide and transportation in excellent condition, luxurious and comfortable air-conditioned vehicles.) First your honest representative will welcome you and take you to Sigiriya, where you will experience the island's gracious hospitality for the first time. After checking out a charming nature resort, spend the afternoon on safari in Minneriya National Park, home to the world's largest concentration of Asian elephants. The massive Minneriya Tank Reservoir, constructed in the third century CE during King Mahasen's reign, sits at the centre of the protected reserve. During the dry summer months, elephants from all over the country come to this large freshwater source to drink, bathe, and socialise on its serene banks. Even while the elephants are the main draw, you should keep an eye out for rare Sri Lankan leopards, sloth bears, langur monkeys, and an amazing array of birds while exploring the park in a Jeep.

Day 2 - The Monkey Kingdom of Polonnaruwa, Village Cycling Tour of Hiriwadunna

This morning, depart early for the ancient remains of Polonnaruwa, where you can see groups of inquisitive primates and their dedicated researchers. Once the mediaeval capital of Sri Lanka, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is now scattered with the remains of palaces, shrines, and monuments. A thriving colony of monkeys, including torque macaques, grey langurs, and purple-faced leaf eaters, may be found within the city's stone walls. The Smithsonian Research Centre intervened to save their declining numbers; field researchers from the centre will show you around the thriving monkey realm. While exploring a small portion of this area and learning about the struggles and successes of monkey conservation, kids will be amazed by the social interactions and habits of the local troops. An afternoon family bike ride through the fields and back roads will give you additional opportunities to explore the surrounding area. Take in the fresh air and tranquillity as you walk around a secret lake, observing the local fauna and birds. After a stop at a local home for a rejuvenating cup of tea or medicinal drink by a villager, you can visit a nearby temple for a lucky blessing.

Day 3 - Climb Sigiriya Rock Fortress, Transfer to Kandy, Visit the Temple of the Tooth

Today, ascend the 1,200 stairs to Sigiriya Rock and explore one of Sri Lanka's most revered sites. Ascending via enormous carved lion's paws to the top, where expansive views over the surrounding countryside await, admire the unbroken 1,600-year-old frescoes and other remnants of the carved stronghold. The long climb is quite simple for the whole family because of the many hidden treasures along the route, although younger kids can choose a less taxing walk to the halfway point. Little ones can then take a snooze or rest their weary legs during the two-hour ride to Kandy. After checking into your comfortable accommodations at a quiet country house hotel, spend the afternoon seeing the UNESCO-listed Royal Palace. The palace is located on the shore of the tranquil Lake Kandy and contains the Dalada Maligwa (Temple of the Tooth), which is home to the sacred tooth relic of Lord Buddha. A significant centre of worship for Buddhists all across the world, the breathtaking complex of shrines, temples, and gardens is set to an evocative background of traditional drumming.

Day 4 - Explore the Kotmale Dam, Traditional Music & Drumming at a Cultural Show

Visit the neighbouring Kotmale Dam, which was constructed in the 1980s to capture the power of the massive Mahaweli River, to start your day. Your host will take you to a viewpoint with breathtaking views across the reservoir and offer interesting information about how it was built. In low water, you may even be able to see the historic temples that were flooded out when the dam was built. Next, head to Mahaweli Maha Seya, which is close by. Here, a large stupa (shrine) was constructed to take the place of the destroyed temples Enjoy the gorgeous pool and the abounding wildlife at the country house for the remainder of the day. You'll return to Kandy in the evening to take in the colourful splendour of a Kandyan cultural show. Young audiences will be thrilled by the dynamic, acrobatic performances of leaping pirouettes, plate-spinning stunts, and the spectacular "fire walk," which culminates the show. Traditional dances portray the elegant motions of birds and animals.

Day 5 - Climb the Magical Tower of Ambuluwawa, Transfer to Wadduwa

Today, visit the tower on top of a mountain in the historic Gampola town called Ambuluwawa, which seems like something out of a fantasy. To get to this amusing landmark, take a 15- to 25-minute ride in a tuk-tuk through biodiverse landscapes of deep evergreen woods, floral creeper vines, and medicinal plants. Younger children can enjoy exploring the picturesque surroundings by tuk-tuk and on foot, while older youngsters can tackle the dizzying heights with a 3,567-foot (1,087 m) walk up the narrow, winding staircase. Next, you'll say your goodbyes to the Hill Country and head west toward the coast and your base for the next two nights—a secluded, beachfront resort set amid tropical gardens in the quiet village of Wadduwa.

Day 6 - Free Day in Wadduwa

You have the entire day to enjoy as you like. Kids may enjoy an afternoon of building sandcastles and tanning on the beach, exploring the acres of jungle-like gardens or splashing around in the luxury resort pool. Take a private motorboat excursion on the neighbouring Bolgoda Lake, Sri Lanka's largest and most diversified freshwater ecosystem, if you're feeling adventurous. The mangrove swamps, in particular, are home to an impressive variety of aquatic birds and mammals and boast the richest biodiversity on the island. See pelicans, wildfowl, cormorants, kingfishers, sea eagles, purple herons, and endless waders. Naturalists will be enthralled with the abundance of plant and animal species in this serene setting, and kids will enjoy seeing the fisherman set their lines and use the unique cane traps that resemble fences to catch barramundi fish.

Day 7 - Transfer to Colombo & Depart

Following a relaxed beach morning, it's time to say goodbye to Sri Lanka as your driver drives you to the airport in time for your flight out. Safe travels and ayubowan, the customary long-life blessing from Sri Lanka.
