Day 2 - Vilpattu National Park

This morning, make your journey to Wilpattu and stop by the Anawilundawa Bird Sanctuary. Because it borders three radically diverse ecosystems—the ocean, mangroves, and freshwater tanks—Anawilundawa is unlike any other place. As a result, it is one of Sri Lanka's six RAMSAR wetlands and a good place for hundreds of bird species to nest and breed. This area is home to a variety of animals, such as purple swamp hens, pheasant-tailed jacnas, white ibis, huge cormorants, herons, and open-bills. In addition, 74 different kinds of butterflies have been identified here, along with 20 different species of mammals, including the Indian otter, rusty-spotted cat, fishing cat, slender Loris, and toque monkey. Proceed towards Wilpattu, and upon reaching it, embark on an evening safari within the national park. Large areas of forest support an incredible variety of vegetation in this deep, dry jungle, which also has lakes on floodplains. Keep an eye out for sloth bears, leopards, wild boars, deer, and elephants.

Day 3 - Habarana

After breakfast this morning leave for Dambulla. En route visit the Anuradhapura Vessagiriya Monastery Complex; during the reign of Anuradhapura Kingdom, 500 monks were working there. After exploring the caves, continue your journey to Minneriya National Park for an evening safari. Home to Sri Lanka's elephants and sloth bears, Minneriya is considered the best national park in the world for seeing large herds of elephants in their natural habitat. You will travel to Dambulla this evening to spend the evening relaxing and refreshing.

Day 4 - Habarana (Sigiriya)

This morning, avoid the heat by rising early and travelling to Sigiriya, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Sri Lanka's most well-known attractions. Epic views will be awarded to those that reach the top. Because of the nearby woodlands, this area is also well-liked by birds. You can read more about Zero Plastic, a partner organisation of the Intrepid Foundation, here. Zero Plastic strives to reduce the effect of plastic in and around Sigiriya, educate local populations about sustainability, and eradicate single-use plastic. After your exploration you will return to your luxury hotel.

Day 5 - Ampara – Galoya National Park

Travel to Ampara to experience Gal Oya National Park's pristine magnificence. Elephants, axis deer, muntjacs, water buffalo, mugger crocodiles, and over 150 different kinds of birds can all be found in this park. The park is surrounded by towering mountain peaks and sits against the enormous Senanayake Samudraya Lake. Once there, take some time to stroll around the verdant surroundings. After that, you'll board a boat and go for a lake trip, arriving at the location where the neighbourhood elephants congregate every night to splash around and cool off. What a sight!

Day 6 - Arugam Bay

Get up early today in preparation for a sunrise safari at Gal Oya National Park. You'll get into a 4WD and head into the Kossapola area of the park, which was formerly home to ancient nobility because of the unique ecosystem's abundance of medicinal plants and wildlife. Look intently for herds of elephants going by, as well as the four kinds of deer that live in this area. The animals here can be shy and difficult to see. As you explore this unusual area, take in the continual buzz of varied birdlife above you. You will then make your way to Arugam Bay, where you will spend the night. As soon as you get there, check into your luxury hotel and enjoy your evening for free.

Day 7 - Kataragama – Yala National Park

Take a safari tour in Kumuna National Park in the morning. You will have a fair chance of seeing some local species because the area is dotted with numerous streams. Before departing the region for Kataragama, you will also have the opportunity to visit Arugam Bay Lagoon or Panama Lake to witness some crocodiles. After you get there, you'll go on the second safari drive of the day at Yala National Park, which is the second-biggest national park in Sri Lanka. Many animals can be seen in the park, including buffalo, crocodiles, elephants, monkeys, and, if you're lucky, leopards. The park is one of the best sites in the world to watch these elusive creatures. Among the 215 different bird species that may be found here are the Sri Lankan wood pigeon, painted stork, crimson-fronted barbet, and proud peacocks that stroll through the park.

Day 8 - Kataragama – Yala National Park

This morning, embark on a new 4WD safari adventure across Yala National Park's diverse terrain. See if you can spot any elephants, deer, leopards, crocodiles, or birds before returning to your lodging for a leisurely afternoon. Perhaps spend some free time at the Kataragama Temple, which is devoted to the Hindu War God Murugan and the Buddhist guardian deity Kataragama Deviyo. If you simply cannot get enough of seeing the local wildlife, you may plan another safari in the national park to increase your chances of seeing three times as many of the creatures.

Day 9 - Sinharaja

Drive today to Sinharaja Forest Reserve, a biodiversity hotspot and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. When you arrive, proceed to your luxury accommodation for the night. Set amidst the misty rainforest, these eco-lodges sit on stilts for optimal harmony with the natural environment. In the evening, take a nature walk through the forest with your friendly guide; immerse yourself in the tropical surroundings and spot local wildlife such as jackals, big cats, wild boars and monkeys. Tonight, fall asleep to the sounds of the forest.

Day 10 - Tangalle

As the morning birds greet you, get out of bed and go through the forest with your friendly trip guide. Stroll down the verdant walk, mindful of the presence of butterflies, multi-coloured blue magpies, squirrels, mongooses, and other wildlife. Following that, you'll travel to Rekawa, where you'll spend the night. You and your company will head to the beach as the sun sets to search for turtles that are nesting.

Day 11 - Colombo

You have a long day ahead of you as you head to Colombo, your final destination. Along the way you'll stop to explore Galle Fort, a walled city with winding lanes and well-loved promenades, a charming blend of Portuguese and Dutch architecture. Spend some time walking around and viewing the architecture of the area, which is mainly from the 16th-19th century. You have an evening when you arrive in Colombo to go on your own adventure.

Day 12 - Colombo

Your trip ends today. Our friendly representative will take you to the airport.
