Your journey begins with a warm welcome at Colombo city or Bandaranaike International Airport. From here, it’s just a short drive to reach Negombo, a charming coastal town known for its golden beaches, lagoon, and cultural mix of Dutch and Portuguese heritage.
Upon arrival, you’ll transfer to a peaceful Ayurveda wellness retreat, located either by the Negombo beachfront or in a quiet garden setting nearby. The retreat provides a calm environment where you can unwind and begin your journey of holistic healing. Your wellness program starts with an introductory consultation with an Ayurveda doctor, who will assess your body type (Dosha balance – Vata, Pitta, Kapha) and overall health. This ensures that your treatments are personalized to your needs, whether it’s for relaxation, detox, or rejuvenation.
After the consultation, you’ll enjoy a series of traditional treatments: • Oil Massage (Abhyanga): Full-body massage with warm herbal oils to release tension. • Shirodhara: A soothing therapy where warm herbal oil is poured over the forehead to calm the mind. • Herbal Steam Bath: Cleansing therapy that opens the pores, removes toxins, and relaxes the body. These therapies are designed to restore inner balance and promote deep relaxation
In the afternoon, join a guided meditation and yoga session led by experienced instructors. Set in a serene garden or beachfront pavilion, this session helps relieve stress, improve flexibility, and enhance mental clarity — a perfect way to reconnect mind, body, and soul.
Spend your evening relaxing in the retreat’s garden or by the beach in Negombo. You may enjoy a peaceful walk, watch the sunset over the Indian Ocean, or simply rest in the tranquil surroundings of the wellness center.
After yoga, you return for a round of Ayurvedic therapies designed to detox and rejuvenate. Treatments may include a herbal body scrub, a steam bath infused with medicinal herbs, or oil therapies that improve circulation and release toxins. These sessions are lighter than Day 1, meant to refresh rather than deeply relax, leaving you energized for travel. A nourishing Ayurvedic breakfast follows, usually consisting of herbal teas, fruits, porridges, and lightly spiced vegetable dishes
Mid-morning, you’ll set out towards Pinnawala, home to the world-famous Elephant Orphanage. Established in 1975, it cares for abandoned and injured elephants. The highlight is watching dozens of elephants bathing in the Maha Oya River—a heartwarming and memorable sight. You may also see calves being bottle-fed or herds wandering through open grounds. It’s both a conservation project and an educational experience, offering insight into Sri Lanka’s efforts to protect its national symbol.
Continuing towards Kegalle, you’ll make a short stop at a Spice & Herbal Garden. Here, knowledgeable guides introduce you to Sri Lanka’s healing plants and spices—from cinnamon, cardamom, and nutmeg to Ayurvedic herbs like gotu kola and neem. You’ll learn how these are used in natural remedies, traditional cooking, and skincare. There’s often a small demonstration of herbal oils, balms, and teas, and you can taste or purchase fresh, organic products directly from the source
After the excursion, you return to the Ayurveda retreat in Negombo for a calming guided meditation session. The focus is on mindfulness and deep breathing, helping the body settle after travel and interaction. The evening is quiet, with a light Ayurvedic dinner—usually soups, steamed vegetables, and herbal teas—to promote easy digestion and restful sleep
Your final day begins with a sunrise yoga session, focusing on gentle stretches and breathing practices to balance body and mind. The calm ocean breeze or the peaceful garden setting creates a serene backdrop, allowing you to connect deeply with your inner self. This session serves as both a grounding ritual and a farewell to your healing retreat experience.
After yoga, you enjoy a last round of personalized Ayurvedic treatments. Depending on your wellness plan, this may include an oil massage (Abhyanga), Shirodhara (warm oil poured on the forehead for mental clarity), or a herbal steam bath to cleanse toxins. These therapies leave you feeling refreshed, light, and revitalized—ready to return to your daily life with renewed energy.
Before departure, you may choose to meet the Ayurveda doctor for a follow-up consultation. Here, the physician discusses your progress over the retreat, shares insights into your body constitution (doshas: Vata, Pitta, Kapha), and provides long-term lifestyle advice on diet, exercise, and stress management. This session ensures you carry the wisdom of Ayurveda beyond the retreat into everyday life.
